expressing the feelings and emotions of the inspirations i discover daily in my life is essential to who i am.  various creative outlets in my life have allowed fostering of these expressions; whether through my many years as an actress or personal hobbies of fulfillment, such as dancing and writing.

there is a unique joy, however, that comes from creating with the hands.  as a small girl, i experienced this pleasure after reading one of the "campfire girls" novels.  upon closing the book on this wonderfully exciting adventure, i wanted to find a way to continue the feeling the story created within me.  immediately running around the house and yard gathering every useful material to be found, i spent the afternoon creating my own "campfire girls" dress, complete with sash and badges (and many hot glue gun burns on my hands!).

although constantly exposed as a child to my mother's sewing, it wasn't until college that i truly first learned the art for myself.  it was through classes in costume and set design during my theater studies that i discovered the pleasure of creating pieces which could be seen as well as touched.  this is one of the reasons i love sewing and needlefelting with wool so rich and soft to the touch.

my work today is heavily influenced by the various regions of the country in which I have lived (including california, kentucky, coastal north carolina, and now brooklyn, ny), as well as an education in theater and women's studies.  working with children for several years has also fostered a love for creating pure natural pieces to help fuel a child's imagination.

it is a daily delight for me to discover new inspirations through the endless bounty of nature and the talent of such a wonderfully creative group of women.  these inspirations consistently lead my hands toward new adventure.
